To honour the legacy of Shri Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi, Ambuja Neotia inaugurated the 2nd B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition on 28th August 2025 at Rangmanch, Raajkutir, Kolkata — exclusively showcasing the work of Ar. Girish Doshi, Principal Architect of Navkar Architects, and a close associate and mentee of Shri Doshi. The theme: Girish Doshi: A Life in Architecture.
A 1980 graduate of BKPS School of Architecture, Girish Doshi spent seven formative years at Sangath, Balkrishna Doshi's studio in Ahmedabad, before founding Navkar Architects in Pune in 1987. He brought with him not only the master's humanist ethos, but also a structural rigour learned from Engineer Vishnu Joshi — whose Ferrogami and concrete block techniques, known as the Vishnu Padhat, gave Navkar its distinctive Design and Build identity.
Over nearly four decades, the practice has shaped more than 50 residential and affordable housing projects across India, guided by what Girish Doshi calls 'Traditionally-Contemporary' principles — pure geometry, authentic materials, and natural light as the core essentials.
A protégé who built on his guru's foundation — and made it quietly, entirely his own.
